Newtons was originally two foresters cottages, later becoming a smallholding and dates
from the 18th century. The house was converted into a single dwelling in the mid - 1930's.
Between 1973 and 1983 the carthorses stable was converted to a kitchen and a bread oven
was discovered in the sitting room. Lean-to sheds at the back became a flatlet. Attached to the house
are four acres of unimproved land, registered as a Private Nature Reserve, which a recent survey by
Somerset Wildlife revealed as containing many 'notable' species of wild plants and flowers.
