| NOTES FROM NEROCHE PARISH COUNCIL MEETING ON 11th JANUARY 2001.
The Parish Council, which serves the interests of Staple Fitzpaine, Curland,
Bickenhall, Thurlbear and Orchard Portman, met on 11th January last. The main topics of
discussion centred on planning and highway issues. the Council has an advisory role
in connection with all applications for planning consent within the parish, and also
monitors any development which appears to be unauthorised and reports the position
to the relevant authorities.
As usual, a great deal of time was spent discussing highway problems. The Council
members expressed concern over the poor state of the roads within the parish
in general. It was resolved to make specific representations to the County Council
about a number of serious road defects, including the persistent flooding at Orchard
Portman. Councillors are always willing to hear of any particular highway problems
which parishioners may wish to draw to their attention.
Parish Council meetings are open to the public, and if necessary a short public
discussion can be held before meetings commence when members of the public can bring
matters to the Council's attention.
The next meeting is at Neroche Parish Hall at 7.45pm on Thursday, 8th March.
