St. Peter's Church, Staple Fitzpaine, - Church Bells

Of the five bells, four have been added since the tower was built (1485). The third bell, dated 1590, is inscribed 'Love God'; the fourth, dated 1665, 'MH.I.B.'; the second dated 1670, 'L.T.C.W.MT. AH. NH. RA. T. B.'; and the fifth
'Mr. Thomas Virgin, and Mr. James Wyatt, Churchwardens. Thomas Bilbie. Cullompton. Fecit. 1803'
The first bears the same inscription as one of the Thurlbear bells and is very probably one of the originals.
The word 'michi' is written upside down.
"Est michi collatum I.H.S. istud nomen amatum"
"Jesus, that beloved name, is bestowed upon me".
