| The old farmhouse which used to be called Netherclay, has been divided
in two; Mr Woodman owns one half and 1 3/4 acres. Mr Bowditch the other
half and the orchard. This cottage still retains the old well outside the door. Source: A History of Thurlbear, R.A.Sixsmith (1957) The latter cottage referred to above by R.A.Sixsmith is today known as Netherclay Cottage and the first cottage as Coldstream Cottage, the owner having been a member of the Regiment of the Coldstream Guards. |
