2006/10 MINUTES OF THE LAST MEETING:
The Minutes having been circulated were taken as read and signed as correct by the Chairman.

PUBLIC QUESTION TIME:
The two police officers were introduced and requests for more frequent visits to the parish, particularly the Church Close end, all
the usual complaints were aired, though most were to the Management of the service rather than the foot soldiers.
Mr D greig reported that every single parish under his umbrella mentions shortcomings when dealing with the police.
HQ must be made aware of their failings in the "communications with the public" dept.
The meeting re-convened at 7.52pm with:
2006/11 MATTERS ARISING:
1. On rechecking the play equipment for the bark chippings, the original estimate proved to be wrong and that £1,200 would now be needed to bring the level up as necessary.
The supplier was asked to quote direct to the PC. Also that volunteers would be needed to help unload the bark. It was suggested that rubber safety matting would be a cheaper option
in the long term. Mr D Greig offered to see if any grants would be available. Mrs R Clark to contact TD Leisure Dept and also to try Somerset
Playing Fields Assoc.
Somerset Playing Fields Assoc. no longer implement annual play area inspections so the ROSPA request form has been forwarded and the acknowledgment indicated the inspection would take place in May.
2. Standing Orders - Proposal to change Standing Order no 3.
In order to facilitate a change in the normal meeting day of the Parish Council a change needs to be made to the Standing Orders. This was proposed
at the last meeting of the Council for debate at this meeting, the revised wording should read "meetings shall be held
on the third Wednesday of the months of May, July, September, November, January and March each year.

3. Dog Fouling. ALL footpaths within the village are in the TDBC Designated Area which starts at the 30mph signs, more signs can be purchased from TDBC.
The Clerk was requested to write to Mrs Madge, Mr & Mrs Fallance and the Policeman (Mr & Mrs Walsh) living in Orchard Cottage
as their dogs were too frequently seen loose on the highway.
2006/12 CORRESPONDENCE:

3. Society of Local Council Clerks - conference + meeting. Clerk unable to attend.

Travellers site at West Hatch. consulted as neighbouring parish. Restrict to current number permitted.

2006/16 HIGHWAYS:
Verge / hedge-cutting dates for the village are approx 3rd July, SC Councillor begged to ensure this date is adhered to,
and reminded of the dangers in Broughton Lane (no verge, steep banks, very narrow).
Return of Chapel stones been promised by Mr D Peake (SCC).
Mr Pym the new owner of the woodland adjoining the parish not contravening any planning conditions, all above board and legal.
2006/17 PARISH PLAN:
The Quiz Nite planned for 23rd March likely to be cancelled as only 2 tickets sold to date.
A list of householders not on the main sewer to be compiled.
The Parish Walk will take lace on Good Friday, Mr Derek Parsons asked for as leader as he will not be available, volunteers for the teas were also sought, the Landlord of the Half Moon Inn
kindly offered the refreshments.
The Clerk was requested to write to TDBC requesting advance notice of any Planning Proposals so as to be consulted at the onset of discussions. Councillor J Williams
declared an interest and left the meeting.
The Clerk also to write to TDBC Housing Dept requesting written confirmation that qualifying locals would receive priority in residence of the
Old Peoples bungalows in the village, irrespective of their future ownership.
Two gardens will be open on 28/29th May, suggested to have Village clean up the weekend before. Mr D Greig offered loan of long-handled litter pickers.
The Newsletter, Mrs S Kilbey was currently unable to continue and Mr M Farrell had agreed to step in.
The next meeting was arranged for Wednesday 17th May 2006 in the Chapel at 7.30 pm commencing with the ANNUAL PARISH MEETING.
there being no further business the Chairman closed the meeting at 9.27 pm.
