| The
Parish Council meeting was held on Wednesday 11th
September 2002 in the village Hall. The meeting started with Public Question Time which raised parking problems at Pattons and Church Close. Councillor Williams advised a letter to the housing department at TDBC which he could follow up. Too few people had signed up to the Community Transport and residents had been advised that a shared taxi was no more costly. The Clerk was asked to request repairs to the stiles on the footpath starting from Fyrse Cottage. Further to various complaints the clerk was also requested to write to The Woodland Trust and suggest closure of the car park, albeit on a temporary basis, to see if the troublemakers would leave the area. Several planning applications and minor amendments had been received but none merited further discussion. Both councillors R. Watson and J. Williams elaborated on the SWARMS report (Highways) which was pursuing various suggestions for alleviating the congestion along the A303 and A358, particularly through Henlade, but nothing specific was planned for the immediate future. Seven accounts were authorized for payment and comments received from the Auditor of 2000 / 2001 accounts were discussed for action. The new Audit arrangements appeared to be considerably more cost effective and probably less onerous. Quotes for repair and general maintenance for the Bus shelter are to be sought, three names were suggested. Councillor R. Watson had met with SCC highways engineer regarding remedial action to prevent flood water retention entering properties in the village. He suggested that the culvert towards Stoke Hill be cleaned out and the drains flushed on the next visit. He also wanted to know who owned the land beside the brook, as that too needed the silt and rubbish cleaned out of it. The next meeting was arranged for Wednesday 13th November 2002 in the Village Hall at 7.30pm. |
