According to the Minute Books The Stoke St Mary Cricket Club was founded in 1910. In those early days matches were played on the ground behind the Smithy Cottage. In 1927 the club moved to a new ground near Stoke Court.
Matches in 1980 were played at Orchard Portman House and have continued there since save for a few seasons in the late 1990's when ground was used on Stoke Hill.
