ST MARY'S CHURCH - The Aumbry
![]() The aumbry is a recessed cupboard in the wall of a church, near to the altar, used to store sacred vessels etc. The present aumbry at St. Mary's is thought to be a Victorian facing of an earlier recess. The aumbry lamp was brought to St. Mary's by the previous Rector, Rev. Geoffrey Cooke, when he arrived in 1989 from a parish in Yeovil. The lamp has however only been introduced in recent times following restoration by Dennis Parsons of Dairy House Farm, Stoke St. Mary. |
